A beauty bundled up in multiple layers of clothing warms herself at a kotatsu (heated table) draped with a heavy blanket decorated with a plum blossom pattern. She is seated beneath a framed image of the iconic woodblock print portrait of the actor Ichikawa Danjuro VI (1778-1799) in the role of Shinsuke by Utagawa Kunimasa (1773-1810) published by Uemura Yohei in 1796.
