A courtesan wearing a pink kimono decorated with grasses along the hem stands in a hallway and peeps through a hole in a shoji panel. A poem in elegant calligraphy filling the empty space to the right is signed Shichidaime Mimasu, with red seal Mimasu, the poetry name of actor Ichikawa Danjuro VII (1800-1832).
This print is one of an untitled series of ten (recorded) featuring bijin matched with poems by popular actors.
