Mt. Fuji from Tagonoura

signed at lower left Kiyochika with artist's seal Kobayashi, possibly published by Daikokuya (Matsuki Heikichi), ca. 1920-30s

otanzaku tate-e 14 7/8 by 6 3/4 in., 37.8 by 17.1 cm

This tanzaku print is a clever posthumous adaptation by cropping out the right half of an oban design titled Mt. Fuji from Tagonoura from 1897 that was included Kyochika's series Views of the Famous Sites of Japan (Nihon Meisho Zue) published by Matsuki Heikichi V (1870-1931).
