This composition depicts the actor Ichikawa Ichizo III (1833-1865) in the role of Nadauemon, the actor Ichikawa Kodanji IV (1812-1866) in the role of Tonnenbo, the actor Onoe Kikujiro II (1814-1875) in the role of Nadeshiko Ogami, and the actor Nakamura Turunosuke (dates unknown) in the role of Washizu Rokuro, from the play Kurikaeshite Mimasu no Tamamono, staged at the Morita Theater in Edo in the second month of 1862.
