Jinbo Tomoyo (given name Teisaburô), was born in Tokyo. At the age of seventeen he became a pupil of Hirezaki Eiho (1881-1968), an illustrator of novels and newspapers who was a contributor to the 1924 series, New Ukiyo-e Beauties. Tomoyo also studied with Ito Shinsui. He worked as an illustrator of novels and stories for the magazine Kodan kurabu, and the newspaper Kokumin shinbun.
